Lawn and garden care in Redcliffe.

Jackfruit Home and Garden looks after lawns, gardens and outdoor spaces across Redcliffe and the wider peninsula – Margate, Woody Point, Scarborough, Clontarf, and the rest of the coastal strip that shares Redcliffe's conditions even when it doesn't share its postcode.

Mowing, hedging, garden bed design, turf and yard tidy-ups, handled by a team that plans for salt and wind, not just soil.

Local knowledge

Why local knowledge actually matters here

Redcliffe jetty and foreshore looking toward the town centre

Redcliffe is the one suburb in our patch where the coast genuinely runs the show, and it changes almost every call we make. Salt spray lands on leaves and draws moisture straight out of the plant tissue, leaving scorched, brown edges on anything not built for it – and it's not just the plants exposed to direct spray that suffer, since salt also works its way into the soil itself over time. Wind adds to the problem, stripping foliage and drying out soil faster than roots can keep up, which is a real issue on a peninsula with very little to break the breeze coming off Moreton Bay.

The soil underneath makes the job harder again: like most coastal ground, it's sandy and free-draining, which sounds appealing until you realise it also holds almost no water or nutrition on its own. Standard inland planting advice doesn't transfer well here – a garden bed plan built for Narangba's clay-influenced sandstone country or North Lakes' modern estate soil needs adjustment before it'll survive a Redcliffe summer. Plants naturally built for this – coast banksia, pigface, lomandra – cope by excluding or storing salt in specific tissue, or by simply being built tough enough (thick, leathery leaves; deep, sand-anchored roots) to shrug off what a softer plant can't. Choosing the right ones from the start saves a lot of replanting later.

Around the peninsula

Redcliffe and the peninsula, as we actually know it

The foreshore is really the spine of the whole peninsula – a connected walking and cycling path runs from Scarborough down through Redcliffe to Woody Point, with Suttons Beach as the calm, family-friendly stretch near the town centre and the Redcliffe Jetty as the genuine local landmark, Sunday markets and all. Scarborough's esplanade has its own character again – more cafes and dining clustered together, and a working boat harbour that gives it a slightly different feel to the quieter Woody Point end.

For anything the garden itself needs, Redcliffe Garden Centre and Peninsula Landscape Centre, both in Clontarf, do the job properly – an actual plant nursery and a proper bulk landscape supply yard, not the limited range you'd get off a hardware shelf. Our favourite up and coming plant store is Urban Jungle in Redcliffe – run by a very knowledgeable local owner. Between the beach, the jetty, and a nursery that actually stocks salt-tolerant natives, it's a part of Moreton Bay with a strong, distinct identity of its own. If you grew up here, chances are your first summer job involved either the beach or the jetty in some capacity – that's just how it goes on the peninsula.
