We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). While Jackfruit Home & Garden currently falls below the $3 million annual turnover threshold that triggers mandatory APP compliance, we voluntarily commit to these standards and will meet any updated obligations as privacy law reform takes effect.

From clients and prospective clients

When you contact us, submit an enquiry, or engage our services, we may collect:

  • Details about your property and the services you are requesting

From employees and subcontractors

As part of the employment or engagement process, we may collect:

From website visitors

We use a small number of trusted third-party platforms to operate the business. The platforms listed below are those currently in use. These may change over time, but we will always ensure any provider we use meets appropriate privacy and security standards. Your information may currently be held or processed by:

  • SortScape — job scheduling, quoting, client records and field management
  • Xero — accounting, invoicing and financial records
  • Our website platform — for hosting and form submission handling
  • Email and communication tools used for client and team correspondence

We only use providers with appropriate security and privacy practices. These platforms may store data on servers located outside Australia; where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information receives comparable protection.

We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law, including to the Australian Taxation Office, WorkCover Queensland, or Biosecurity Queensland.

5. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our security measures include:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for our website and form submissions
  • Password-protected and two-factor authenticated access to business platforms
  • Limiting access to personal information to those who need it to do their job
  • Revoking access for employees and subcontractors when their engagement ends

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual, we will take immediate steps to contain it and assess the risk. 7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law:

  • Client and financial records are retained for a minimum of five years to meet tax and legal obligations
  • Employee and contractor records are retained for the duration of the engagement and for seven years thereafter in line with Fair Work and taxation requirements
  • Enquiry form submissions from prospective clients who do not proceed are retained for a reasonable follow-up period and then deleted
  • Website analytics data is retained in aggregate form and not linked to identifiable individuals

When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

8. Employee and contractor records

The Privacy Act provides a specific exemption for employee records held and used directly in relation to the employment relationship. We handle employee and contractor information in accordance with our internal policies, including keeping records confidential, limiting access, and using information only for legitimate employment purposes.

Employees and contractors may request access to their own records held by Jackfruit at any time by contacting us directly.

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we are not legally required to retain it
  • Withdraw consent for communications such as marketing messages at any time
  • Make a complaint if you believe we have handled your information inappropriately

10. Cookies and website analytics

Our website may use cookies or analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. This information is collected in aggregate and is not linked to individually identifiable data. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.

Our services are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
